Description
James Home, 1318 Lafayette, Photo Postcard, c. 1895 b/w. Photo of the home at 1318 Lafayette St. where Jesse James was killed in 1882. This photo taken much later. The hill in front of the house has been excavated for Lafayette Street extension and the derelict-looking single-story home appears to be sitting high above grade on high dirt wall. Vegetation growing on wall and below. (The home was relocated to the Belt Highway in 1939). No message, unmailed.
The excavation is from the extension of Lafayette Street. Previously the home did not actually set on a street front.
