Older woman, wearing black dress, standing beside the marker. Printed at top of photo: "Grave of Jesse James, Excelsior Springs, Mo." The woman is Jesse's mother, Zerelda James Samuels. (see 756/17992 for color photo postcard of this scene). Typed on back: "First grave of Jesse James when on the old James farm near Kearney, MO. It was later moved to the Kearney cemetery.
