Jedediah Smith Trader & Trailbreaker. A biography of Jedidiah Smith who discovered the central route from the Stony Mountains to the Pacific, was leader of the party that effectively discovered South Pass, was the first white man to cross the future State of Nevada, and the first to traverse Utah from north to south and east to west. He was the first white man to enter California by the overland route, and to scall the Sierras. Smith was the first to explore California from San Diego to the Columbia River.
