Pony Express re-enactment was held Saturday April 3, 2010. 150 years ago Johnny Fry, the first westward rider of the Pony Express left St. Joseph at 7:15 p.m. and headed to Seneca Kansas, in route to Sacramento. Justin Rother re-enacted Johnny Fry's famous ride. News photo of Justin Rother as he rides off for the 150th anniversary of the Pony Express. The Pony Express lasted about 18 months, until the telegraph carried news and information westward much quicker.
