Hugh Lewis research notation:
Page 437: Recorded by Parkman on June 12th, 1846. Meeting Roubideau. "Rode to Lawrence Fork and nooned. Passing on, saw in the distance a half-subterranean house which Frederic had made to winter in, in charge of some furs to be sent down in the spring. What a devil of a solitary time! Chimney Rock in sight, Henry entertained us with accts. of his adventures at one of the blows-out given by the bourgeois at the Yellow Stone, when the traders come in the spring. It was very characteristic. This is the custom at all the forts. Overtook a company of emigrants, Americans and foreigners, encamped with whom were five men from Laramie, going down. Crept into one of the wagons-wrote letters- and gave them to these people. Then advanced to Roubideau's party, camped a mile or two in advance. camped by them."Collection
