L1992.5.76Description
The Joys of Collecting was written by the author because of his "desire to convey to the reader the romance and zest--the excitement, suspence, thrills and triumphs--that make art collecting one of the most exhilarating and satisfying of all human endeavors." He asked world-famous art authorities, Jean Charbonneaux, Julius S. Held and Pierre Verlet to add notes and comments to his book. The book is divided into 4 sections, each written by a different authority--the first part by J. Paul Getty; Greek and Roman Antiquities by Jean Charbonneaux; Paintings by Julius S. Held; and Furniture and Objets D'Art by Pierre Verlet.
