Description

Kimmswick and Barnhart Sites: Jefferson County, Missouri. The Kimmswick site, south of St. Louis, MO, was proposed as evidence for man-mastodon association since its excavation at the turn of the 20th century. Artifacts uncovered here in the 1980's are considered unquestioned proof that man and mastadon co-existed. The Barnhart site is a bit southeast of the Kimmwick site and is a site where mastadon bones were discovered in 1976 from a cut bank, and excavated by the University of Illinois 30/Softbound/Illustrations/Photographs/Tables.
