It is Black History Month. The article states that black Archives Museum which was newly reopened hopes to tell the real story of blacks in St. Joseph. It says see page D8, but D8 is not in the folder. There is a typed 2-page history of the Museum. It was a dream of Jewell Robinson. Upon retirement from teaching he began the project of creating the museum and opened it in 1991 at 19th and Messanie. It was developed mostly to motivate kids, to teach them pride and respect. The museum also housed meetings and cultural activities for youth. During Mr. Robinson's illness and after his death in 2000, his wife Geraldine worked to keep his dream alive. In 2001 negotiations began to transfer the Knea Von Black Archives building and artifacts to the St. Joseph Museum. In February 2003 the St. Joseph Museum reopened the Black Archives its temporary location, the former convent of the Immaculate Conception Church at 509 South 10th. There is an exhibit Guide, and a list of advisory board members of the original Knea Von Black Archives of St. Joseph.
