Description
Krug Park Bowl Promotion of Creating Pageant Theater Artist Conception. c. 1924. Promotional publication of artist's conception of the remodeling of Krug Park Bowl. Printed lower front: The Pageant Theatre at Krug Park, St. Joseph, MO. George Burnap, Landscape Architect, Washington, D.C.
Legend below illustration:
The above is a picture of the proposed Pageant Theater at Krug Park. Nature has provided the ground work for a wonderful amphitheater. Thousands could be seated to enjoy the best of entertainment. The citizens of St. Joseph can not afford to pass up this opportunity of assembly which could rival the wonderful amphitheater in St. Louis which has made that city famous. Plans are being laid to have this amphitheater ready for the main events of St. Joseph's 100th anniversary in 1926."
(Actually St. Joseph's 100th anniversary was 1943. The bowl was renovated and a great performance, Freiburg's Passion Play. world premier, was held in June, 1928 at its grand re-opening.)
Although this is an illustration, the publication credits Majestic Studios for photo of the illustration.)
