Notes
Negatives have been in possession of Frederick W. Slater, a newsman and later editor for the St. Joseph News-Press and then his son, Stephen R. Slater, who donated them to the museum. Fred Slater wrote the text for a summary news story that appeared in 1979. At the time of the lynching he was a reporter for the local college newspaper. His relative Harold Slater was at the scene and reported the event for the News-Press.
