Description

Lamont, Harry: Pony Express Rider, Photo. 1900. Copy from news photo, head shot of older man in hat, clean shaven except for mustache. Lamont rode for the Pony Express out of Rock Creek, Nebraska Territory. He was the first rider to arrive at the Station after the shootout between Wild Bill Hickok and David McCanles, the station keeper in July, 1861. When no one would come out to change relays or feed horse, he went on along the route. Later he rode between South Pass and Fort Bridger.
