Laws of Burgos of 1512-1513 are the royal ordinances for the good government and treatment of the Indians in what we know today as Latin America.. They were created by the medieval churchmen and jurists of Spain to create in the New World a Christian community built on the teachings of the Church Fathers and Aristotle. They were denouced by Bartolome de de Las Casas saying they were iniquitous, cruel, tyrannical, impossible to enforce, and worse than barbarous. They were not made by the King, but by citizens who were deadly enemies of the Indians.
