Short history of Lee Company"
"The Lee Company was founded by Henry D. Lee in October, 1899 in Salina, Kansas. Mr. Lee's first operating was the wholesale distribution of grocery, hardware and clothing items. Because of the volume done in work clothing, Mr. Lee set up a factory for making garments in 1911. A few years later by special request from a mechanic, Mr. Lee invented the UNION-ALL garment and went on to develop the LEE overall and the famous LEE Rider jean. In 1951 the Company divested itself of all interests other than garment manufacturing. In 1954 the Lee Company began the production of leisure wear and new sells to the entire United States and many countries throughout the world. Our Company, though old in years, is young in spirit and looks forward to continued growth and expansion. In 1969 we joined with Vanity Fair Miss to form the VF Corporation. Vanity Fair Mills has a been known as a "quality house" for many years, manufacturing ladies lingerie and associated garments. Truly we are part of one of the most vigourous and effective apparel concerns in the world."
