Letter from Grace Nicholson to Harry George discussing the collection she is wishing to sell.
Feb. 20, 1910.
Mr. Harry L. George,
201 Saxton Bank Bldg.,
St. Joseph, Mo.,
Dear Sir: –
Your letter of Feb. 17th reached me this noon and I hasten to reply, as I have two more inquiries from parties who are anxious to know details about the collection and wish me to set a price on same.
I note what you say about your desire to possess part of the Collection but I am not inclined to divide same after all my hard work cataloging it and also from the fact that I shall have no trouble whatever in disposing of the entire collection if I quote parties the low price I gave you. Then too if I should divide the collection I would about as much for part of it as I offered you the entire collection, as it would mean a good deal of extra work and would be impossible for me to fill in the collection if anyone else should want it. A great many of the pieces could not be duplicated. It would be far better for you or someone else buy the entire collection and then trade off the pieces they did not care for and the duplicates.
Packed as it came from the Exposition the collection only occupied a space of 7 feet long – 24” high and 30” wide – at least that is the size of the box which contained same.

I am pleased that you secured the Bureau of Ethnology Rpts. These Reports are always a valuable addition to any Library and I know will prove of special interest to you.
Please let me hear from you as soon as possible with your decision about the collection.
Very truly yours,
