Description

Vol II pg. 106E Letter from Harry George to the Mohonk Lodge regarding particular items he is interested in. 12/15/08. Please let me know by return mail if you have published any new catalog of Indian art goods and curios. Several months ago you sent me a catalog of this character from which I made some purchases. I am interested in certain kinds of baskets which I would now like to add to my collection such as Choctaw cane baskets which is similar to the Cheti machies, of which I have three specimens of the dark colored work but none of the lighter colored work, of which I find specimens in different museums, and which are know as Attacapaen. In other words there are different baskets made by the Chettimachies than those I have from you and from other sources. Let me hear from you in regard to what you have to offer. Accompanying your catalog was a list of such baskets as you were disposed to sell. Let me hear from you fully in regard to this matter with a list of what you may have on hand. The Attacapaen baskets of which I would like a specimen or two are black and white only, are different in shape from the specimens that I have made by the Chetimachies or by the same great family. Yours very truly,
