Letter from the Mohonk Lodge to Harry George discussing items he would like including the baby carrier they are shipping to him, and explaining how the baby is carried in it.
January 27, 1909.
Mr. Harry L. George,
St. Joseph, Missouri.
Dear Sir; -
Replying to yours of the recent date relative to the baskets and other goods which you have written to us of, will say that so far we have been unable to find anything different from what you have in the baskets line. We can secure quantities of the Chetimachie baskets such as you have but nothing of different designs and colors. Neither can we find any of the choctaw baskets. We will try again, however, and if we find anything, will write to you.
Enclosed we hand you invoice of the Baby Carrier which we ship to you by Wells Fargo Express. We hope that this one will reach you in good condition and please you. We note that you speak of the fittings, but so far as we know, this one is complete. The baby is wrapped tightly in a shawl or blanket, with arms to side of the body and fastened there, and then the baby is tied firmly by the strings in front, in the carrier. When thus fastened in all it can move is the head.
Assuring you that all of your orders shall have our most careful attention, we remain
Sincerely yours,
The Mohonk Lodge,
