Description

Letter from the Moretti-McIntosh Company giving information about the Santa Ysabel agency and their method of doing business. Vol II pg. 107X Dear Sir-, Replying to your favor of the 17th, list., beg to advise that we believe we handle more Indian baskets than any one person, or dosier in the country, and permits the state.. The Santa Ysabel agency is composed of nine Indian reservations. At the present writing, we have a few very good "Olin" baskets, there are two women, and only two, who make these shapes in this country. We sold one last week to Mrs. Douglas, San Diego, for $30.00. As the present time, we have on hand (outside of our collection) ^about 40 which ????? us $120.00. The way we have done in the past where we wholesale, we give you our cost mark, and add 10% to the first cost, for our commission, which we could only do, in case you took all, as there are some baskets in the lot which are worth double the money we have paid for them. The baskets range from $.60 to $12.00. Web refer you to the First National Bank of San Diego, and will take back any or all the baskets, at the price paid for them. We have shipped baskets to New Mexico.. The name of the tribe is the Deguelin.. Hoping we shall hear from you soon again, we remain, Yours truly,
