Two handwritten letters to Harry George from Ralph Meyers verifying his interest in good Indian Curios. Vol II pg. 101G
1) Dear Sir.
If you are interested in good Indian Curios, I have some very nice things on hand
such as warbonnets, Bows arrows, Buckskin dresses Buckskin shirts and many other things collected from the different Pueblos in New Mexico also Jicarilla Apache and Cheyenne and Arapahoe if you wish I can send you a detailed list and description.
Yours sincerely,
Ralph Meyers
Leader for Taos Pueblo Indians
2) Dear Sir:
Yours of Nov 1st to hand, The Kiowa medicine is made of two long buckskin strings rolled loke a chain and having a large loop about thirty inches long. It was thus made to be worn over one shoulder and down under the opposite arm reaching to belt.it has six portions of buffalo horn pared very thin and etched in places and filled with vermillion.
Also four large downy feathers from under an eagle tail, these are colored yellow the string was once , when new a bright red but is now quite dirty and greasy and shiny with age.
It also has a little buckskin sack containing the (good) medicine.
some of the horns have a little bead work wrapped around. The price of this article is 2.25. It is a simple unshowy thing but interesting for its character. Real Indian medicine fetishes are hard to obtain. The price of the drum is 21.50.
Yours Truly
