Description

A four-page letter from Alice Palmer Henderson to Harry George noting the shipment of a photograph and discussing a pottery collection. Vol 1 P. 185B Dear Sir: Your reply just received. Enclosed please find the picture. This is an unusual opportunity, for it is all but impossible to obtain baskets now. I did not keep a copy of my letter to you and I cannot recall whether or not I also told you of a really wonderful group of pottery that a friend, widow of an army officer, asked me to sell for her. It embraces an Aztec idol almost 21 inches high in finest condition but for a small hole in the back of the head. This was obtained my her many years ago from Mexican refugees while her husband was stationed on the border. ???? smuggled over in it is against the law of Mexico to export antiques of that sort, There is another smaller Aztec idol sent me from Pam. There are also seven tools, etc Pre-Columbian, from graves in the interior of Panama, Chisigni Indians . One has little good luck balls sent loose inside the legs The group is rare , valuable, and reasonable at $500 (five hundred dollars) She sent me rich collector now. But he wants only the large Aztec idol and she wishes to sell all. They are crated and could be shipped at once. I can guarantee that they are a find. If you wish them, too, please lose no time in ordering. If you are in this part of the country I should like to show you my own wonderful Eskimo & Indian collection in the museum.Catman has just visited us again and giving me his M.S.S. of two Indian songs to place in my case of rare old Indian musical instruments. He and Dr. Rudolf Cronan of the Museum of Natural History, N. Y. and many others, say my collections though small, 1500 objects, is the very finest that have ever seen. Please answer as promptly as you ???? about baskets and pottery as I wish to close at once - One of Catman's M.S.S. was big Ho Ye Warrior which I quote in my (there seems there is a page missing as the last sentence is incomplete and there is no closing. )
