A copy of a letter on onion skin paper from Dr. McDonald to Mr. George Duer, Rutherford, Calif. dated November 11, 1963. The letters COPY in red ink are down the left hand side of the page.Context
Dear Mr. Duer:
I want to thank you for your kindness and patience with an amateur vintner Fri. afternoon Oct. 25th while you were so busy.
Thank you for the price supplement sheet from John Storsch & Sons, Philadelphia and for the other information. However I did neglect to obtain the address for the Journal of Enology. If possible may I have this address because I would like to subscribe to it.
Hope you didn't taste too much of the two samples of homemade wine that I left. because it certainly would ruin your palate for better wines. The Seyve-Villiard #5276 ' ' ' certainly seems to give a very foxy flavor. . . . . I could only obtain a bushel and a half of grapes and I pressed them out very severely to obtain enough juice . . . . Possibly that had something to do with the flavor also. If I can obtain sufficient grapes next year I will only crush them gently and allow them to set for six to eight hours, then drain off the juice and use that.
As to the Couderc #7120, . . . it seems to have a very peculiar flavor when made into wine. . . . I don't rightly know how to make it more palatable. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks again for your kindness.
Sincerely,Lexicon
