A copy of a letter on onion skin paper from Wilbur P. McDonald, M. D., to Mr. Karl L. Wente, Wente Brothers, Livermore, California, dated October 16,1972. The letters COPY in red ink are down the left hand side of the paper.Context
Dear Mr. Wente:
Thank you again for allowing me to interrupt your daily chores on October 4th, and for your kindness in being so considerate to a midwestern enological pest.
The gentlemen from Australia were very interesting, and I think I learned to recognize oldium as distinct from the downy mildew that we usually have in this section of the country. Now I am certain that it is oldium that is infesting the Ruby Cabernet I have grafted on Baco #1 roots.
Hope to bother you again in October 1975, y next trip to California
