A letter from Erwin Abmeyer, Department of Horticulture, on Kansas State University, Manhattan, Ks. letterhead, to Dr. Wilbur P. McDonald, dated February 10, 1964.Context
Dear Doctor:
Thank you for your letter of February 7th. It is always a pleasure to hear from someone interested in our work.
The grape you are interested in is M.Y. 18080. As you suggest, it is available from the New York Fruit Testing Ass'n. They list it at $1.00 each - 3 at $0.90 each - 10 at $0.80 each.
They have the following to say of this variety: "New York 18080 (parentage N. Y. 10842 X Sultana) - a handsome black midseason dessert variety. Should be tried for roadside market."
Have spent most of my time thus far this winter working in the orchard, but do have about half of the grapes pruned, and some of them tied. This has been a good winter to get the pruning done, but I also need a month of bad weather so that I can get last year's report written.
Very truly yoursLexicon
