Scope and Content

A copy of a letter, on onion skin paper, from Wilbur P. McDonald, M. D. to Mr. V. L. Smith, Bemis Company, Inc., Kansas City, Missouri, dated September 9, 1968. The letters COPY, in red are printed down the left hand side of the paper.

Context

Dear Mr. Smith, Enclosed are three slides illustrating the use to which your erosionet has been put. Two 45" strips were tied together at about 18" intervals and placed over the trellises, tying them at irregular intervals underneath. So far very few birds have solved the problem, although I have kicked one or two out of inside the net. The net seems to be holding up well and I can probably use it for the second year, however there is some frying of the edges and the polypropylene filament wears through where the wind whips the net against the trellis posts. I am still looking for a plastic material with more open weave, or net, 7 or 8 feet wide which could be reused for several years. Thanks for your help. Sincerely, Enc.
