A copy of a letter, on onion skin paper, from Wilbur P. McDonald, M. D., to Mr. Louis
Noel Latour, October 20, 1965. The letters COPY in red ink are printed down the left hand side of the page.
A simple card made of a small piece of paper folded to resemble a card with "MEILLEURS VOEUX" printed inside and signed by Louis Latour.Context
Dear Mr. Latour:
Eleanor and I wish to express our appreciation for your kindness to us the morning of the 7th of October 1965. Your patience with amateur vintner, and your understanding, will always be remembered.
Of many things that I learned on this trip to Europe, the one that is foremost in my mind, is the fact that only in Burgundy does the Pinot Noir make "Burgundy". The second, is that for me to make good wine in Missouri I'll have to grow some of the Pinots. My problem is now in clear focus and I am going to have to learn a lot more about grafting.
Sincerely,
