Scope and Content

A copy of a letter, on onion skin paper, from Wilbur P. McDonald, M. D., to Mr. Phillip M. Wagner, Broody Vineyards, Riderwood, Maryland, dated October 3, 1969. The letters COPY in red ink are printed down the left hand side of the page.

Context

Dear Mr. Wagner: Enclosed is a copy of an article from the Kansas City Times, Thursday morning, Sept. 25, 1969. Just to let you know that I am still attempting to grow Vinifera grapes in Northwest Missouri. All of my Ruby Cabernets were winter killed last winter at a temperature of -14° below zero, except for two that I had piled leaves around to a depth of about two feet, and three bud grafts that I had made last August and had buried under the ground. It was a pleasure to talk to you on the phone last January while in Baltimore for the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma Meeting. Any suggestions on more hearty Vinifera would be welcome. Sincerely, Enc.
