A copy of a letter on onion skin paper letter from Wilbur P. McDonald, M. D., to Mr. Karl L. Wente, Wente Brothers, Livermore, California, dated October 17,1969. The letters COPY in red ink are down the left hand side of the paper.Context
Dear Mr. Wente:
Thank you for your and consideration to an amateur enologist from the Midwest last Friday afternoon the 10th of October. It is only on these rather short excursions into country that I am able to pick up first hand knowledge about enology without having to read about it in books. I learned a lot that afternoon.
After leaving the winery called Jim Howe in Walnut Creek, asking him to dinner. Things worked out very nicely as it was his housekeeper's day off. We had a good meal and evening together, tasting more wines and bringing me up to date on all of the California scuttlebutt.
It was a wonderful day, and thank you again.
