Dear Dr. McDonald:
Thank you for your letter and newspaper clipping. They are both very interesting.
We have recognized for some time that even though Baco is a strong grower, it is not hearty enough to recommend as a rootstock.
I have checked with the grape specialist here at the Station, and no one knows of any work having been done on the addition of peroxidases to grape vines to make them more winter-hardy.
