Scope and Content

A copy of a letter on onion skin paper, from Wilbur P. McDonald, M. D., to Mr. Leon D. Adams, Sausalito, California, dated January 18, 1974. The letters COPY in red ink are down the left hand side of the paper.

Context

Dear Mr. Adams: Mr. Keith Barbero, State Representative, 54th District. . . . . . , has introduced a bill into the Missouri Legislature which would legalize the homemaking of wine, up to two hundred gallons a year for family consumption, in the State of Missouri. This act is known as House Bill No. 740. Any encouragement you might send him would be appreciated. Possibly we can get Missouri out of the doldrums on the production of wine. We have been making some inroads as there are now 22 domestic licenses issued in the State. These of course are by bureaucratic edict, and not by statute. I enjoyed your book, and am looking forward to seeing you again, possibly this fall when I return to California. Sincerely
