A letter from Larry Lockshin, State Extension Viticulturist, University of Missouri & Lincoln University, College of Agriculture, Columbia, Missouri to Dr. Wilbur McDonald, dated February 4, 1985. It is written on Missouri Cooperative Extension Service letterhead of Howard Executive Bond paper.Context
Dear Dr. McDonald:
I have finally found some sources of these hardy grapevines I spoke to you about. They are all short season grapes, which means the wine quality may not be the same in Missouri as it is in Minnesota.
The cultivars that seem to have the best appeal are: Swenson Red, Edelweis, Kay grey, and St, Croix. They are all white except the Swenson.
The breeder who produced these is a private breeder and may sell small amounts directly:

They are dealing with a commercial nursery, which will have plants next year; maybe a few this year.

I hope this helps you.
