Dear Mr. McDonald:
I am writing to you in response to your letter to Mr. Ed King Jr., dated June 26, 1995. Our nursery program here at King Estate Vineyards has developed a reputation as having one of the most diverse clonal selections commercially available in the United States. We would like to send you some wines to try in your area. In order for wines to grow well in your area they need to be able to tolerate your cold winter temperatures. Presently, our wines are growing in the nursery and will be removed when they are dormant in December (they are available as bare root dormants in the late winter).
I believe you could be successful growing a variety of Vinifera hybrids. Unfortunately, they do not make as fine a wine as Pinot noir or Pinot gris but they are very well suited to cold climates. If you would like more information about these and to try planting some in your area please let me know and I will be happy to send you some early next year,
Sincerely,Lexicon
