A two-page letter from J.E. Standley to Harry George stating he cannot take any of Harry George's collection, but refers him to a Mr. Sutton in Washington, D.C., who buys materials. Vol II pg. 131K
Friend George
I gave your address to a Mr. Sutton he is going to open the first antique and Curio Store in U. S. in Washington D. C.
he has been buying curios for many years he only buys good stuff no matter if 5 dollars or $105 (Dollars) he said
he would call off at St. Joe purposely. Now do you think you would break the collection if not what price would buy it
and state what coin you would allow me
I wrote you that your proposition was better than none. I meant that your offers, your inducement, any thing was
better than none or better than no chance or no offer or opportunity to earn coin.
Yes I am Overstocked and will not purchase anything, myself, but I may interest others.
Yours
The letterhead describes the shop as "The Most Unique Store in the World," The stationary list various curiosities and items such as Alaskan baskets, totem poles, amber beads, antique weapons, and other unique artifacts available at the shop, which specialized in curious and rare items.Subject
