Letter from the Mohonk Lodge to Harry George describing items they have or can get and from which tribes.
July 18, 1908.
Mr. Harry L. George,
St. Joseph, Mo.
Dear Sir; -
Your letter of the 9th inst to the Agent of the Indian district here at Colony has been handed to me as we are in a position to quote you several makes. Of Baskets the Indians of this reservation are Cheyennes and Arapahoes, but they are beadworkers and not basket makers. We, however, through our field representatives handle several makes, and enclose herewith, one of our price sheets. Of course we do not attempt to describe these, because we would have to devote almost a full sheette each basket, and they are all different, no two are exactly alike. We can deliver these to you at the prices quoted.
We are enclosing also a list of some Navajo goods we have on hand, and want to call your attention to these goods. They are of the very best Navajo work, and we get them direct from the reservation. They are all of the very best work possible, and each one is exceptionally well made. All are of pure wool and no cotton warp is allowed in any of them. We will be pleased to receive your orders for any of these, and assure you that we will serve you in the best possible manner.
Sincerely yours,
The Mohonk Lodge,
