Dear Mr. Latour:
Hope springs eternal, and I am continuing to try to raise a Vinifera grape in Northwest Missouri. So far the only Viniferas that have survived had to be laid down and covered during the winter. I am now grafting the Ruby Cabernet, which is supposed to be most winter hearty of the Viniferas, and is a cross between the Carrignon and the Cabernet Sauvignon, to the roots of a French Hybrid called Baco #1, but even so, these vines in Missouri have to be laid down in the winter and well covered as they do not survive the temperatures of 10 and 14° below zero that we are exposed to during the winters here.
Thank you for your understanding and kindness to my wife and I when we visited on the 7th of October 1965. There is lots to learn about this business and I am still learning.
Sincerely,

Dear Mr. McDonald:
I have been pleased to receive your letter of the 3rd inst. and I thank you for the details you give me so kindly about your experiences.
We have this year a very small crop but wines of good quality full of colour and body.
We hope you will come once to taste them and we are, dear Sir, (handwritten) "with our best regards"
Sincerely Yours,Lexicon
