Dear Sirs:
The United States Indian service has furnished us with a roster of officers under the care of this department. Also the address of the agencies. You will oblige me very much as one of the agents, if you will answer several questions:
Are the Indians under your care basket makers? *yes
If so how many tribes under your care are engaged in this work? *two
As a collector of Indian baskets there are some specimens of work I would like to have, and I know of no other means of securing them except through the agencies, r if not through them, through whoever may be the purchaser of the same. If you will give me such information as you have in as complete a form as possible (which will help me to accomplish my desire) same will be thoroughly appreciated. Enclosed I hand you a stamped enveloped for prompt reply. Thanking you in advance for any information you may send.
Yours very truly
*I can send you baskets
if you want some
