A typewritten letter to C. Hart Merriam from Harry L. George extending an invitation to visit to see his collection of baskets. Vol II pg. 102M
Dear Sirs:
Presuming you have left for the scene of your labor during the spring and summer, I am going to send this letter to you by way of Washington, and hope that it will reach you. I want to extend to you an invitation to visit me sometime when you are in this part of the country. You are doubtless well acquainted with the location of St Joseph. As it is 130 miles from Omaha and 67 miles from Kansas City, you can reach here in two hours ride from one point and four hours from the other. I would like to have you as my guest while in the city and would like to show you over my collection of baskets which is getting along pretty well towards the end desired; that is, a representative line as far as possible of the basket making tribes under the jurisdiction of the United Stats Gov.
It will take little of your time and I feel sure you will give me this pleasure if possible.
Hoping to have the pleasure of knowing you personally some day, and seeing what you have in your collection at Washington, I remain,
Yours very truly,Subject
