Description

Vol II pg. 8B Letter from Francis LaFlesche to Harry George informing him of his travel plans and hoping to see Harry George's collection. 214 First Street S.E. Washington, D.C. May 25, 1916 Mr. Harry L. George. St. Joseph, Mo. My dear Mr. George: I have just returned from Oklahoma where I have been working among the Osages for over a month. It was a part of my plan to stop on my way home at St. Joseph so as to examine your Indian collection but I was not able to carry out my plan. I am contemplating another trip to the west next fall and I may then be able to make you a short visit, either on my way out or when returning. A week from today i shall start for Lincoln, Nebraska, to witness the pageant to be given in that city on the 5th and the 6th. While there I shall see Mr. Thornburgh and his collection. On my way home I shall stop at Milwaukee, Wis; and from there return to this city. My stop at Milwaukee will be for the purpose of visiting the Public Museum of Milwaukee to examine the Indian collection there. I appreciate your kind invitation to me and look forward with pleasure to seeing your collection of Indian specimens. Very truly yours, Francis LaFlesche
