Dear Sir
I suppose you have been looking for a telegram ever since yesterday but
we have been delayed on the way. We were four hours late in Chicago.
Consequently we missed the train that we should have taken and did not leave
until 10-30 Wednesday night when we intended to take the 1 PM so that did
not get us into Omaha until ten o'clock last night so we did not have any chance to talk
with him until this AM and now we are six hours late and shall not get to the ranch
until 9 PM. When we should be there at 2 PM. Now to business after talking with Mr.
Shane a few minutes and telling him of you and all that I knew about you and the
capabilities of which I new you possed. he at once said send for you at once.
The place he wants for you to fill is an important one and one you can fill to his entire
satisfaction after you know what he will demand of you. He wants you to attend to his
correspondence you will have to bring in your knowledge of short hand, also look after
the work at the Omaha office also go to the stockyards and check up and make out
balance sheets every month or any time he may ? ? ? he said after you get back in and
get the hang of things to have a general outlook of his matters when he was absent.
We have three men in the office at the stockyards and two in the Omaha office. He wants
you to come just as soon as possible after Oct 1st he is ready for you now I think it will
be a splendid chance and one that will pay you handsome after you get broke in to it.
I don't know if you can read this as it is hard to write good while in motion. We shall
telegraph you when we get to North Platte. I will tell you more when I get home
and have a fine time.
Your Friend
B.
