Description

A typed letter from Harry George to Ira C. Deaver expressing appreciation for information about a tribe of Indians. Vol II pg. 101O Dear Sir: Many thanks for yours of Sept. 18th. I have been a resident of this part pf the country since 1869 and remember clearly the Indian was in which Capt. Jack was famous. I had, however, lost track of what became of this tribe of Indians, and am very much pleased to receive the information contained in your letter, I wrote to Mr. Lawver but received no reply. Also to Mrs. Jennie Clinton and received an answer from a merchant in Seneca who she had write for her. I have sent an order to her for four specimens which she is willing to sell and enclosed a New York draft for the same. One of the specimens is new and was made by her mother who is 86 years old. Three of them are old, one made by her mother one by the Shasta Indians and one given her by her uncle. I hope to be able to get further information from her concerning these baskets. Yours very truly ,
