Letter from E.M. Lenders to Mrs. W.H. McNeil regarding Lenders' selling preferences of his basket collection.
Vol II pg. 1C
Dear Madame
In reply to your fav. of Feb. 11th I would not like to break up my basket collection in selling single baskets, but the collection could be disposed of in two different lots.
111 baskets for $750
154 " " for $3550.
These 154 baskets are all very fine old weaves c: 54 Pomos, 36 Tulares, etc, etc.
If you should be interested in this proposition, I could send you photos + detailed catalogues. The prices are very low, considering the quality + age of the baskets; they were purchased at a time, when the prices were not as high as nowadays + whosoever will purchase this collection, will get a decided bargain.
I am much obliged for sending me the photo. of part of your collection; I studied the same with the greatest of interest, you seem to have some fine baskets in this lot, also very interesting designs.
Yours Very Truly
