Dear True:
Thank you for the wine article appearing in "The Star and News", Monday July 17th, concerning he growing of Vinifera in the east. It is mighty interesting to see this hobby develop . . .
The people mentioned in the article I know, nd have had correspondence with most of them. Dr. Constantin Frank sent me some of his Pinot Chardonnay cuttings, . . . . about 10 years ago.
Philip Wagner, . . . has been very helpful and I spent an afternoon with him in his vineyard. some of his cuttings I am still trying tp propagate.
This appears to be a good grape year, and I am hopeful of having sufficient Ruby Cabernet, . . . .to make a five gallon varietal batch. . . . . Last year I only had enough for about two and half gallons, which I had to blend with Virginia Seedling grapes. So fat this wine is less than outstanding.
The School of Enology at Davis, Ca. had promised me some cuttings of "Sereksia", . . . but they failed to arrive. I have the promise for some cuttings for next spring, and of course great hopes .
Thanks for your continued interest in my hobby. Eleanor sends her love.
Sincerely,Lexicon
