Letter from Walker & Hubbard on the Navajo Reservation offering especially rugs for sale.
We would like to arrange with you to handle our Navajo Rugs. They are profit-makers and tradewinners; they are nice to have, are useful, ornamental, and will last an ordinary life-time. Use improves their looks, as they become smoother, and designs are most distinct; they enhance in value as they grow older; and are becoming more popular every day, and soon the supply will not equal the demand. They are the coming rug of America on account of their durability and many uses. They are nice for rugs, matts, lounge covers, stand covers, wall ornaments, lap robes, saddle blankets, etc. And there is nothing a wife will appreciate as a gift more than one of these rugs, and nothing is more useful, durable and economical to give. Anyone that buys a Navajo rug has invested his money wisely.
We are situated to give you the lowest possible Wholesale Prices. Buying direct from the loom, the fountain source of Navajo Blankets, we buy them not as we need them, but all that come. We don’t buy blankets as a business. Our business is to sell goods, but we have to buy them to get trade, and then we have to sell them. Hence the saving of a blanket dealer’s profit to you, and the cause of our low prices.
We quote you at present for cash, 2 per cent off, 60 days net, as follows: 55th 1.75 per # or 1.25 to $75 or each
And when we run ahead on rugs will be glad to ship you on consignment. We want to place our rugs everywhere We buy thousands of dollars worth every year. After they are once introduced, there is quite a growing demand for them, and a splendid way to introduce them is to use some yourself at home; hang in your office, talk about the, hold them in high appreciation; don’t care to part with those, and someone will soon want them at large profits. Even here, where they can get any amount of rugs, we have known parties to be offered fabulous prices and refuse them because they fancied them themselves. Lots of blanket dealers make a mistake by sticking them back in some dark corner, handling them as a side line, and, of course, sell but few. They are like anything else, will bear advertising and pushing; and those who do this are the ones who do the business.
Where handled in connection with other goods there is nothing better for advertising than to give away these rugs as Premiums with a valuation of 100 to 150 per cent profit. There are many ways of handling them successfully and profitably, and we can supply you with all kinds and prices. We have nice designs and sizes and fix them in shape to sell and give satisfaction. We will be glad to hear from you and open up a line of business with you.
Yours Respectfully
Walker & Hubbard
