Letter from Grace Nicholson to Harry George discussing baskets she may have, some he wants, and his plans for placing his collection with the School Board.
Feb. 12, 1912.
Mr. Harry L. George,
201 Saxton Bank Bldg.,
St Louis, Mo.
Dear Sir: -
Please accept my thanks for your check in full of account. I am writing for two reasons. I am very busy and besides I have quite a lot of Baskets lately purchased, from private collections, which I have not had time to unpack. I think there are some Baskets in this collection which would meet your wants - especially a Choctaw and Siletz.
Another Basket collector has just been here and purchased a large number of Baskets from me, and this means I have a great deal of matter to write out for the party; so I shall not have time to unpack the collection of Baskets until sometime in March. I have made a note of your special wants and will place aside any Baskets I find and save them for you along with the Shastas, that you may make selections from them when you come in May. For we surely hope to see you at that time.
Believe I wrote you that at present I did not have any burden or baptismal baskets of the Arickaras.
Delighted to hear that you are making progress with the School Board and that you will probably have additional room. I am certain as soon as your collection is installed and they see the interest students take in same you will find it easier to get what you want in the future. You are surely doing a great work to have these objects on view.
Again thanking you for your remittance, I am
Very truly yours,
