Sir :-
Your's of the 9th instant, asking questions, duly at hand.
A typed letter on official stationery from the Department of the Interior, United States Indian Service, from the Leech Lake Agency in Onigum, Minnesota. The letter responds to Mr. George's inquiry about basket-making among Native tribes under the agency's care, specifically the Chippewas from the Leech Lake, Cass Lake, Winnebagoshish, and White Oak Point reservations. It mentions that although these tribes are skilled in basket-making using Black Ash, there is currently no market for their crafts. If offered a reasonable price, a considerable trade in this line could potentially be established. The letter suggests obtaining specimen baskets through specific traders in Walker, Minnesota.
Carried over from the first page, the second page concludes with "You might, through them, work
(out some) thing of a trade in that line
Very respectfully,"Subject
