Dear sir:--
At the last meeting of the Legislature Two thousand ($2,000.00) Dollars was taken off of Officers Salary Fund to enable us to build our Hospital; Senator Cochran informs me that he did not know that our Officers Salary Fund would be short in so doing. We have not drawn a Dollar of our Maintenance Fund; and I desire you we write the Governor and ask him to authorize the Legislature to transfer Two thousand ($2,000.00) Dollars from our Maintenance Fund to our Officers Salary Fund. I think all Officers of this Institution have worked faithfully and are entitled to it. Should the Legislature fail to transfer, we will have to do without a part of our pay until after the next regular session of the Legislature. I would not ask you to ask for said appropriation, but as we have the Fund and are sure not to use but a small part of it, possibly none, see no impropriety in having the Legislature do so. To verify my statement in regard to Maintenance Fund used, you will please call upon State Auditor.
Respectfully,Collection
