Description

Letter from Sarah J. Henderson to Harry George discussing various items for sale. Vol., pg. 223D Dear Sir:- Replying to your favor of August 31st, will say that I have set aside for you the Eskimo basket and the Fraser River Cradle shown in the photo last sent you. The $25.00 cradle has changed hands since my last writing, and is not now for sale. The extra appliances that went with it were the straps and yarn woven headband of which the mothers supported the burden of the papoose upon the back, the skin strings that fastened the baby in the cradle and two contrivances whittled out of hard wood, one which is bent into canopy shape over which may be throne a light covering to protect the face and eyes of the child Awaiting your pleasure in the matter of the baskets mentioned. I remain yours truly, (Additional writings along the left edge of the page ) P. S. I enclose to you a photo of three fine old Yakutat hats; values two dollars. Designs are painted on these.
