A two-page letter from Sarah J. Henderson to Harry George discussing baskets, bags, and including a list of various baskets for sale with prices. Vol. 1 P 225B
Dear Sir:_
Your advice of January 11th acknowledging receipt of my last shipment
of indian basketry came duly to hand but has remained unanswered pending my inquiries concerning
the twine and corn-husk bag about which you asked information. The most definite statement secured concerning that kind of bag is that is that itis Nez Perce.
You probably know that most of the basket weaving tribes do several varieties of work with such
materials as are use by them for such purposes.
A collection that was on sale here a short time ago and had been bought directly from the N. P.
indian reservation contained several similar specimens.
I am sorry to have offended concerning the manner of shipment; but in case you
favor me with further orders I will endeavor to avoid offending again in the same way.
At present I have in my collection the following list of baskets that I think may interest you. (.50)
No. 1,Cowlitz, or Soft Klickitat height 12 inches top diameter 11 n. bottom to about 8 in., $6.00
" 2, Oblong Bilhula, 7 inches high, 18 in long and 11 in. wide, Material ^white cedar bark (1.00)
