Description

A two-page letter from Sarah J. Henderson to Harry George noting she is packing baskets for shipment and describing the same. Vol. 1 P 225D. Dear Sir: Today I am packing the baskets about which I wrote you under date of Feb. 8th, and will probably send them off by tomorrow's express. The basket No. 5, was sold to me for a Shasta , but I take it to be either a Pitt River, or a Hot Creek, ( Hot Creek being a tributary of Pitt River). When I questioned the former owner about the matter she said she classed all from that section of country as Shastas; however as I find at the last moment that I cannot make room in this box for that basket I am substituting for it a smaller one of the same kind, that has lately come into my hands, price $5.00, and sending you also two others (a Quinault, $4.00, and No. 79, a curious combination of an evidently Klamath bottom with a Neah Bay top $5.00) that I believe you may like. These items are taged according to price before quoted, but I will make you prices as follows: Namely: No. 1, Cowlitz, or soft Klickitat $5.50 " 2, Oblong Bilhula 14.00 " 3, Northern Alaska, near ???? Bay 7.00 " 4, Covered Neah Bay 4.00 " 6, Small Hazel Stick .70 " 7, Old Yakutat Bottle 65.00 " 8, Quinault 4.00 " 79, Klamath and Neah Bay work 5.00 ---------- Total $ 105.20 1 Hot Crun 5.00 ----------- 110.20 The bottle is packed inside the soft baskets, and I shall take the precaution to have the box marked (glass). Hoping that these articles will find favor with you, I remain Yours Very truly $31.50
