Letter from Sarah J. Henderson to Harry George noting the shipment of baskets and describing a Paiute gathering basket for sale. Vol. 1, P. 225F
Dear Sir:_
Your favor of the 5th instant is at hand, and I intend
forwarding you by tomorrow express the indian baskets you wish to see
except the Paiute Gathering Basket.
That basket being of the same material as the Harvesting Fan (which belongs with it
and cannot be sold separately) I avoid more bulky shipment by sending the fan only,
and enclosing herewith a pencil sketch of the gathering basket, which is much stronger than fan.
The price of No. 3, I make ___________________$6.00
Number 4, 5 or 6, as per farmer list, $4.00, 4.50, & $5.00, = 13.50
Total -----------
19.50
There is, on the gathering basket a crude attempt at ornamentation by in trading ^ four rows of
black stitches outlining a border about four inches wide.
Very truly yours,Subject
