Dear Sir:
In reply to your kind letter of the 21st must wish to state I do not desire to break collection or sell any part of the collection - as stated in my first letter I wish to sell entire collection of 150 pieces at $1500.00.
Speaking of the Digger Indians and their Baskets wish to state the Digger Indians belong to the "Pupnman" family and are located west of Sacramento, Cal.
I found them a rather dirty tribe of Indians and their Baskets in general appeal little to collectors, good Digger Baskets have made their appearance but a small number only.
The better class of the Digger Baskets are not Digger but "Maidu" Baskets - the Maidu Indians belong to the sauer family as the Diggers do (Pujunan family) and are also located west of Sacramento, Cal.
Have but 2 Diggers while 11 good Maidu Baskets in collections.
It is of great interest to hear you have an almost complete collection from a linguistic standpoint , while I have collected "quality" Baskets in general it is the good ????, shape and design that always appeals to me in Indian Baskets.
Referring to :bottom 'groups' on Page 3, you will count
11 Baskets- 3 Alaska 1 Papago and
2 Washu 1 Hupa 1 Havasupai
2 Navajo 1 Yukon

A rather weird group and the very reason why I quoted Alaska - Washor etc. but had to use Baskets in order to make photographing worth while.
Have forwarded the Quini Blanket and ask you kindly to examine colors by day light.
The rich "blur" in Blanket shows up stronger by day light - you will also notice how the "black" has turned gray from old age.
If not wanted please return same at my expense fully insured.
Herewith enclose full list of the 150 pieces as I understand your request in last letter.
