Letter from George B. Haggett to Harry George providing information about the Duck Valley Reservation in Idaho and noting he is sending one basket.
Sir:-
Yours of Jan. 20, was received. I would state in reply to our inquiry about Duck Valley Reservation, that in 1878 the U. S. set apart a section lying in southern Idaho and northern Nevada for the Shoshone Indians of this section. This was called the Duck Valley Reservation at that time. Eight years later there was an additional section attached to this from the Idaho side for the Pai-utes, the whole was then called the Western Shoshone Reservation, however the name Duck Valley is still given to it. The Western Shoshone School and Agency is situated within the limits of the old Duck Valley Reservation. With respect to baskets manufactured by the Indians here, they do not manufacture much. I have secured a small basket I will soon send you. I paid the woman $1.50 for it. . If you will correspond with the trader here, Mr, J, A. Sewell, I know he can get for you as you will need.
Respectfully,Subject
